The anatomical description of the temporomandibular joint and the cervical spine.

THE CERVICAL SPINE:

Is composed by seven vertebraes, and we can separate it in two parties:

  • The superior cervical spine: is composed by C1 (Atlas) and C2 (Axis)
  • The inferior cervical spine: is composed by the vertebraes from C3 to C7
It permits mouvements of:
  • Flexion/Extension
  • Lateral inclination
  • Rotation and the half part of the rotation is permit by the C1-C2 articulation.

THE TEMPORO MANDIBULAR JOINT:
Is composed by the temporal bone more precisely by the temporal fose, and the condyle of the mandibular bone, between them we found a meniscus. It's the only movable joinf of the face.
We can do many mouvements like:
  • Protraction/ Retraction
  • Elevation/ Lower the mandible
  • Lateralization of the mandible bone

This is a video wich shows the mouvement of the condyle when we open our mouse.
